Of English and Lithuanian descent, Mary Christine Hargreaves comes from a long line of family musicians. Her grandfather Joseph Yukna was a well known clarinet and trumpet player in a Lithuanian polka band. Her mother Helen (Yukna) Turell was a painter, pianist and loved to sing, and her father Walter Turell played violin. Mary grew up in the southern New England countryside and was taught to play classical piano at an early age. Following in her mother's footsteps she has sung all of her life. In her teens she picked up guitar and later the ukulele. The uke has inspired Mary's songwriting for over a decade. She continues to share her folksy originals along with selected favorites by Woody Guthrie, Pete Paul & Mary, Tom Chapin, Stephen Foster, Pete Seeger, Linda Ronstadt, Neil Young, Bob Marley, and Traditionals and more. Inspired by her family, the Beatles, and folk music of the 60's & 70's, Mary's down-home music celebrates love, country life, and Maine's beauty.

Her new project "Sunny Folk Family Music" is a program designed for kids and families that she has put together for local gatherings and fairs geared to be positive, interactive, and lot's of fun for all ages.

Currently residing in East Sumner, Maine, she not only continues to sing and write songs but also loves to sketch and write poetry. Her creative work has been published in West Coast Maine Magazine, Norway Maine's Advertiser Democrat, and the Hometown Memories Living History Book. After retiring from a rewarding career in dental hygiene, she is now pursuing her dream to create, and perform.

Mary Christine is a friend to local schools, libraries, and festivals. Also as an avid music enthusiast, she has helped to promote fellow musicians in her locale by hosting several Maine community television music programs. With three self-produced CDs; Love Is Strong a ukulele debut, Set O'Wheels a traveling folk collection, and Little Pony Express a family-kids album, she keeps on a pickin' and singin'.

Her CDs can be purchased at her website. A portion of proceeds benefits the Arthritis National Research Foundation and local Animal Shelters.  FMI visit    www.marychristinemusic.com
